What NAD+ actually does, and what it does not

NAD+ is a coenzyme present in every cell. It is required to convert nutrients into usable energy and to activate the repair enzymes that maintain DNA, including the sirtuins.

Levels decline substantially with age. That decline is well documented and correlates with reduced mitochondrial efficiency, which is the biological basis for supplementation.

What patients typically report is improved energy and mental clarity, often within the first few weeks. Those reports are consistent enough to take seriously.

What has not been established is that raising NAD+ extends human lifespan. Long-term trials on ageing endpoints remain limited. Anyone presenting NAD+ as a proven anti-ageing intervention is overstating the evidence.

Our position is simple: the mechanism is sound, the short-term patient experience is generally positive, and the long-term claims should be treated with appropriate scepticism until better data exists.
