Peptide therapy: what the evidence actually says

Peptides are short amino acid chains that act as targeted signalling molecules. Because they instruct specific receptors rather than broadly replacing a hormone, they can produce precise effects at very small doses.

The evidence base is uneven. Tesamorelin has genuine clinical trial data for visceral fat reduction. BPC-157 has substantial animal data and considerable clinical experience but limited large human trials.

Regulatory status shifts. Some peptides are FDA-approved for specific indications, others are prescribed off-label, and what compounding pharmacies may lawfully prepare changes over time.

Most protocols are cycled rather than run continuously, both to maintain receptor sensitivity and to create natural review points where a provider can assess whether the therapy is still earning its place.
